Dear Seventh Grade Students and Parents,

Welcome to Aurora West College Preparatory Academy and to your 7th grade school year. As you know, the name of our school changes this year. With that change you will find differences in our school. You will find that you will be expected to study harder and longer than you did in sixth grade. We will once again be expecting you to do your absolute best. Please be ready to work hard, make good behavior decisions and be challenged to learn new and exciting things. All students attending Aurora West College Prep are expected to meet the high learning standards that are set by the school, Aurora Public Schools and the State of Colorado. All students who attend Aurora West College Prep are preparing to be highly successful in our diverse global society and ready to attend a four year university after graduation from high school.

The first day of school for seventh grade students will be Thursday, August 6, beginning promptly at 7:30 am. That's right, school begins at 7:30 this year and ends at 3:00. Breakfast is served beginning at 7:00 each morning. On the first day you are to report to your first period class at the beginning of the day. Your first quarter class schedule is included in this packet. On Wednesday, August 5 only sixth grade students will attend school, 7th and 8th grade students are not to be at school or on campus at all this day.

In this packet you will find important information for the upcoming school year. Please take time to review the information. The packet contains the 2009-2010 Parent Calendar and Handbook; student's class schedule; the APS Safe Schools Policy and acknowledgement form; the Aurora West College Preparatory Academy Dress for Success brochure; 2009-2010 Immunization requirements and a variety of forms that need to be returned on the first day of school. The forms that need to be returned on the first day of school consist of:

  1. Student Verification Form,
  2. Acceptable Use of the Internet Agreement,
  3. Parent Consent Form,
  4. Aurora West College Preparatory Academy Locker Contract
  5. The acknowledgement Letter for the APS Safe Schools Handbook.

These forms need to be signed by parents and students and returned West by the student on the first day of school. Students will need to bring them to their first period teacher. Students must have returned all of the forms to their first period teacher before their locker will be assigned. Lockers will not be assigned on the first day of school, but on Friday, August 7th.

Remember that seventh grade students at A.W.C.P.A. start school on Thursday, August 6. Students are to report to their first period class at 7:30 a.m. Seventh grade students are not to be on campus on Wednesday, August 5.

Looking Forward to Seeing You Again,

Mr. Krueger
